Around 11:16 a.m. yesterday, Friday, the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert informing them that a person was in trouble at sea, about 100 meters from the coast, in Playa del Pirata, municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
The lifeguards from the aforementioned beach rescued the victim and, after verifying that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest, they began to practice resuscitation maneuvers. The SUC personnel confirmed that he remained in cardiorespiratory arrest and continued practicing advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers without obtaining results, confirming his death.
The 1-1-2 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources such as the Beach Rescue service of San San Bartolomé de Tirajana, the Fire Extinguishing and Rescue service of SBT as well as the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands with a rescue helicopter, also the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), a medicalized ambulance and the basic life support ambulance.
The police forces activated by the Coordinating Center collaborated with the rest of the emergency resources and carried out the corresponding procedures.
