The City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, through its Department of Roads and Works, is launching an ambitious Asphalting Plan for the municipality, which involves the rehabilitation of pavements of the road network, paths, streets and heritage facilities throughout the town. The total budget contemplated amounts to almost 9 million euros, the execution of which is expected to be completed in several phases.
Precisely, the start of the procedure for the award of the first contract of the plan was recently published, which will mean “a spectacular improvement in the management of the rehabilitation of the roads in the municipal area, which is unprecedented in our municipal history, since the contract It becomes a flexible tool that will allow the Corporation to act prioritizing in different enclaves according to needs,” highlighted Mayor Conchi Narváez.
For his part, the head of this municipal area, Bartolomé Acosta, stated that "this first service contract will be able to act on the pavements of the network of municipal streets and heritage facilities of the City Council, including its rural settlements in a more agile way."
Once this first contract is awarded, the City Council will have the capacity to make, over the next four years, an investment in its road network of €5.414.622,12, “acting according to criteria of need in the streets of the municipality, through the performance of the contractors awarded this service contract,” explained the first mayor.
Repaving in Playa del Inglés and Morro Besudo
Furthermore, within the Global Plan of actions planned for asphalt in the municipality, designed by the Department of Roads and Works, there is the future bidding and subsequent execution of three other contracts through the following projects:
The first of them is the Repaving Project of the urban center of Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés, for €1.321.518,11 “to improve and reach the recommended comfort for its transit given the deterioration of recent years,” said the councilor. .
To this end, the execution project, once tendered and awarded, will act in the area of Playa del Inglés and Morro Besudo, specifically in: Avenida 8 de Marzo, Av. de Tenerife, c/ La Estrella, c/ Madrid and c/ The Jasmines.
In the Maspalomas area, the paving and improvement works will be carried out on Avenida de la Unión Médica. GC-500, and on the GC-503 (Parque del Sur Section).
Action in the San Agustín area
Through the project to be put out to tender, which is limited to the execution of repaving and organizing public lighting on Las Margaritas Street, for €530.608,71.
It means that these two previous projects are financed through subsidies from the Cooperation Plan of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.
Asphalt in the International Field
And finally, a third action project to be contracted for the resurfacing of roads will be carried out in Campo Internacional and Playa del Inglés.
For the International Field, the budget allocated amounts to €1.459.557,27 and will include: Av. TUI (Uphill section) CI-Av. Gran Canaria; Av. TUI North Section (Approx. Rotarios - Hacienda), Av. TUI South Section (Dunas Group Complexes), Av. TUI Section Entrance to Tony Gallardo Park and Av. TUI (Parking Building Section).
Regarding Playa del Inglés, the works will be carried out on Avenida Alemanya, Avenida Francia, Calle Lisboa, Calle Oporto and Calle Milan.
