Nearly one thousand five hundred people, including the public and runners, participate in the children's race organized by the Local Police

Abril and Rolan reached the finish line and earned their medal for participating in the children's race. Although we will have to wait a couple of years to explain to them how they experienced their first sports competition, because Abril and Rolan are two babies who reached the finish line crawling on the tarp placed on the grass in front of the Santa Lucía de Tirajana police station. . Along with Abril and Rolan, another hundred more participated, although many did so walking or running hand in hand with their mother or father.

 

 

 Between the public and runners, about fifteen hundred people attended this Saturday the children's race and the activities organized by the Department of Mobility. In addition to participating in the race, the little ones were able to ride the police and Civil Protection motorcycles and cars and were able to tour the Santa Lucía de Tirajana Local Police offices with their families.

 

The sun and good weather accompanied a festive day that served, according to Mayor Francisco García “to bring children and families closer to the work carried out by the Local Police for the safety of our neighbors.” The first mayor, together with the Councilor for Mobility, Nieves García and the Chief Commissioner of the Local Police, José Luís, was in charge of delivering a mini police officer badge, a medal, some water glasses and a t-shirt with the image of Gofiote, the mascot of the Local Police. The mayor highlighted that "many boys and girls know these agents because they see them every day ensuring their safety at the doors of their schools, or giving driver's education classes in educational centers." 

 

The Councilor for Mobility, Nieves García, pointed out that “this children's race and the open day at the police station are part of the safe mobility policies that we are doing all year, so that the little ones appreciate the importance of safety and the responsibility that we all have in safe mobility.” In addition to getting on the motorcycles and police cars, many children enjoyed the inflatables and took photos with Gofiote, the Local Police mascot.
