Music, a poster contest in secondary schools, a talk on healthy couple relationships, the screening of a documentary, the institutional event and a solidarity walk are some of the activities organized by the Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council to commemorate the International Day against Gender Violence.
Until next November 22, students from the municipality's secondary schools can present their work to participate in the poster contest. The program of events to mark the International Day against Gender Violence began last Saturday at the Víctor Jara theater with a performance by María Peláe. Next Saturday, November 19, starting at 19 p.m. at the Víctor Jara theater, the Institutional Act will take place, where tribute will be paid to women and minor victims of sexist violence.
Also on Tuesday the 22nd at 11 in the morning at the Víctor Jara theater, psychologist and writer Silvia Congost will give a talk on gender violence aimed at high school students. With the title “Give way to good treatment, learn to love”, the speaker will also talk about healthy relationships and explain the tools that exist to identify toxic emotional relationships.
Walk and Selector Peppers
On Thursday, November 24, the Walk will be held in memory of the victims of gender violence. The departure will be at 18 p.m. from the Balos Sociocultural Center and will end in the Plaza de los Algodoneros, where a manifesto will be read. Afterwards there will be the performance of DJ Pimientas Selectoras, two women, Mrs. Pimienta and Mrs. Monterreina, who come from the island of La Palma. For a decade they have collected vinyls with music of different genres, but they pay special attention to songs that make women visible from a social point of view and that defend their rights, they also highlight groups led by women. Different festivals have participated on the islands.
The Councilor for Equality, Minerva Pérez, points out that “throughout the year we are doing work in favor of equality, to raise awareness among the younger population about the problem of gender violence.” Pérez adds that “we also do prevention work and provide psychological and legal advice to victims.”
On Friday the 25th, the City Council joins the demonstration against gender violence in the capital of Gran Canaria, at 17.30:928 p.m. the buses will leave from the municipal pavilion. The program of events ends on Wednesday the 12th with the presentation of the book “Portal M, Nº 19.30” written by Lucía Jiménez and Humbreto García. The presentation will take place in the assembly hall of the municipal offices at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
