The traditional and familiar festivals of La Milagrosa will once again decorate the Arinaga Crossing over the next few days. From today until December 2, the neighborhood will be filled with joy and devotion with musical performances, dances, folklore and children's games, which will be combined with religious events in honor of the Virgin. Among the scheduled events, the performance of the timplista Benito Cabrera and the singer Cristina Ramos stands out, with their show called 'Hacia la Root', a repertoire of songs from Canarian popular music that they will offer this Friday, November 25, starting at 21:00 p.m., in the Plaza Primero de Mayo.
The other big event with folk music will be the Canarian Popular Song Festival, which will take place the following Friday, December 2, also on the stage of the Plaza Primero de Mayo. The 'Parranda Amigos Isleños' from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will perform; 'Los Goretes de Lourdes', by Telde and 'Tócamelo en D', by Ingenio. They will be accompanied by three groups from the municipality of Agüimes: the 'Texey Folkloric Group', the 'Parranda Risco Verde' and the 'Llanos Prietos Folkloric Workshop'.
The program also includes numerous events dedicated to older people. There will be dances, an intergenerational meeting of folkloric groups, a solidarity bingo in favor of Cáritas and a photographic exhibition at the senior center. For the younger audience, on Sunday from 16:00 p.m. the 'Young Afternoon' will be held, with DJ and K-pop sessions. You can also enjoy children's activities, festivals and Latin dances, with the event 'Al son de la salsa' as the highlight of the program. It will take place on Sunday, morning and afternoon, in the Plaza Primero de Mayo.
The La Milagrosa festivities have a long tradition in Cruce de Arinaga and, in fact, they have been celebrated year after year in a family atmosphere with the only exception of 2020 due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. As for religious events, the central event will be this Sunday, when the Virgin of La Milagrosa goes out in procession accompanied by her faithful. At the end, the parish encourages neighbors to fellowship at its headquarters by bringing food and refreshments.
