This Saturday, starting at 19:00 p.m., on Avenida de Tejeda (next to the Church of San Fernando) the Christmas lights will be switched on in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
Mayor Conchi Narváez will be in charge of pressing the switch that will turn on the 700.000 LED bulbs that already decorate and provide atmosphere in the different centers of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Subsequently, a concert by the Canarian singer Cristina Ramos will provide the energy with her music and her voice.
“I invite all citizens to witness firsthand the starting signal of the Christmas festivities with all the splendor, light and warmth that this municipality, an international tourist destination, deserves.”
The designs of the dozens of light fixtures installed throughout the municipality are motifs, some in 2D (bells, stars, trees, angels, etc.), while another set of Christmas decorations are in 3D, ideal for people to can photograph.
The councilor emphasized that all the planning for these festivities is aimed, in particular, "so that the neighbors, as well as the local businesses established in our commercial areas and neighborhoods, enjoy their familiarity and stimulation."
Narváez said “that this is a very special moment, since it is the first year after the pandemic that the Christmas holidays will regain full social and economic activity. It will be Recovery Christmas.”
He also highlighted that the wide deployment of supports and luminaires carried out by the Corporation meets all the criteria and parameters of sustainability and energy savings set by the central Government.
The Councilor for Lighting, Bartolomé Acosta, indicated that the forecast for the daily lighting of the lighting motifs will be between 6 - 7 hours. “We will make the Christmas lights coincide with the hospitality industry's business hours, until 23 or zero hours, at most.”
“I think it is essential to make San Bartolomé de Tirajana an increasingly welcoming municipality also on these nativity dates. Promote the 'culture of Christmas', so that whoever lives here or who spends these endearing days of vacation is surrounded by the magic and familiarity of the dates," said the mayor.
