Maspalomas Tourist Convention: a separatist from Corsica is coming

Dácil Santana Tuesday, November 22, 2022

It is between November 30 and December 2 in Expomeloneras but they have kept it quiet so that the radio stations in the area do not ask to provide coverage as in the XNUMXth Maspalomas Tourism Forum, although in Las Palmas there are already supplements in the negotiation phases. A member from Corsica of the CDTN, that is, of the Committee for the Decolonization and National Transition for the Canary Archipelago (CDTN), comes to the I European Convention of Tourist Islands held in Expomeloneras and financed by Amadeus, Atos Consulting and Telefónica under the institutional umbrella of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Canary Islands tourism lobby directed by José Carlos Francisco, Excelcan, and with the industrial direction of José Carlos Mauricio. Some of the attendees are the same ones he brought last week to the XNUMXth Maspalomas International Tourism Forum and the tenth anniversary of Tourinews. Everything is directed from Tenerife.

Among the most interesting guests is Kyriakos Kotsoglou, a champion against corruption and opacity in public procurement while also holding a Production Engineering and Management degree from the Technical University of Crete. He is the Deputy Governor of the Crete Region for Tourism and E-Government, also a member of the Economic and Development Committee. On leave, he is CEO of Caldera Group, a hotel group with 7 establishments in Crete. He received his doctorate in 2012 with his thesis titled 'e-Government and its contribution to the Elimination of Corruption and the Improvement of Services in Public Administration'.

Angèle Bastiani, president of the Corsican Tourism Agency and mayor of the Corsican municipality of L'Ile-Rousse, comes as a political authority from Corsica. Bastian is from Femu in Corsica, a Corsican political force formed for the first time to compete in the elections to the Corsican Assembly in 2010. It is the first political force of the Corsican Assembly. One of the sponsoring companies is French, Atos Consulting, of which José Carlos Francisco would be an advisor. Bastiani has been mayor since 2020.

From Malta comes a representative from Gozo, which is an island of that EU state. Gozo has in common with the Canary Islands the arrival of boats. This week, for example, some 44 people were found to be living illegally in Gozo. During a search in Marsalforn, some 44 migrants were found living on the island without papers from Ghana, Syria, Nigeria, Gambia, Tongo, Albania, Burkina Faso and Pakistan. Police said they were taken to a detention center and the process to deport them out of the country began.

In addition to a representative from the Azores, the I European Convention of Tourist Islands, which is organized by the Government of the Canary Islands together with Excelcan between November 30 and will end on December 2, comes again Marie-Hélène Pradines, head of the Tourism Unit from the European Commission; Sebastián Ebel, CEO of TUI; Carlos Gómez, general director of Iberia Express; Jesús Nuño de la Rosa, general director of Air Europa; Eddie Wilson, CEO of Ryanair; Rodolfo Núñez, president of Binter and Javier Gándara, president of the Association of Airlines (ALA) and general director of EasyJet for southern Europe.

Kyriakos Kotsoglou, Deputy Governor of Tourism of Crete, comes to the forum; Jean Luk Le West, president of the Guyane Tourism Committee; Rosa María Carreiro Machado Costa, Director of Tourism of the Regional Government of the Azores; Ronald Anthony Sultana, Gozo Director of Tourism and Economic Development; Clara Noronha, from Madeira Tourism; Dirk Glasser, Director of Sustainable Development of the UNWTO and, finally, Iago Negueruela i Vázquez, Minister of Tourism of the Balearic Islands.
