The spokesperson for the Popular Party (PP) in Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Marcos Rufo, stated this Thursday that it is “impossible” to support the budget of the Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council after expenses on French champagne, plane tickets have been revealed. in first class, costume parties and private concerts of the 'I Congress of Local Administration and FHNl', organized by the town councils of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Santa Lucía de Tirajana, a municipality -the latter- where the Popular Party is part of the pact of government together with Fortaleza and Nueva Canarias (NC).
Rufo has detailed that of the 67,8 million euros of the municipal Budget that is put to the vote today, only 100.000 euros are dedicated to Chapter VI, that is, to real investments, of which 45.000 euros are destined for the purchase of computer equipment and another 45.000 euros for furniture for municipal facilities, something “difficult to explain to the residents of Santa Lucía,” says the popular spokesperson at the Santa Lucía City Council. “They dedicate a fifth of what public money they spent on a 4-day luxury congress to investments for an entire year, an insult to the residents of Santa Lucía,” says Rufo.
“There is not a single new project that we can announce to the residents of our municipality with the budget that Nueva Canarias presents to us today,” emphasizes the popular spokesperson, who highlights that the PP aspired to use the municipal accounts to undertake works to improve the neighborhoods, both in terms of infrastructure and facilities and services, “something that is impossible with a pyrrhic amount of only 100.000 euros,” Rufo clarifies.
“To this we add the scandal of the Champagne Congress, the first-class tickets, the costume balls and the open bar at Moët Chandon paid for by our city council and that of San Bartolomé de Tirajana from the taxes of our neighbors,” he said. emphasized Rufo, who has announced that the Popular Party “is very clear that it cannot be part of this type of behavior”, a reason that will justify his contrary vote in the plenary session this Thursday.
The instruction of the Popular Party in Saint Lucia, given by its spokesperson Marcos Rufo, is “clear” and is that “neither this Budget can be supported nor can the mayor's obscurantism” when calling for the negotiated procedure without publicity for the organization of the 'I Congress of National Qualified Persons of San Bartolomé de Tirajana', even more so since it was done through a consortium for digital television "that has no powers or corporate purpose for it."
