The auditor of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, Tania Naya, expressed this Monday her defense of the holding of the congress of officials of the General State Administration in Maspalomas this November, indicating that the cost was logical and similar to the others developed of the same level in other parts of Spain.
In statements to Maspalomas24H, the official said that the I Congress of Local Administration FHN Maspalomas-Santa Lucía 2022 that "the structure and programming of the congress was exactly identical to the structure followed in all national congresses of this group and of other groups of professionals of the same level" such as the International Congress of Medical Students, the Congress of Judges for Democracy of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Primary Care Congress in Seville, the Youth Mental Health Congress 2023, the Cosital Murcia Congress, the Cádiz Cosital Congress, the Granada Cosital Congress, the BCN Rotary Congress and the I National Congress of Free Assistance Professions.
In his opinion, "all the acts or events held or organized on the occasion of the Maspalomas congress respond to an ordinary and usual structure in the celebration of any congress of this nature or nature without the cocktails or dinner organized on the occasion of the congress can in no way be described as luxury and private parties".
He noted that it was not an opaque congress and that "access was not limited to anyone and the cocktails held were of the same category as those held for any type of congress of this nature, therefore, he cannot use the "luxury or private parties". Regarding the achievements, he indicated that "common solutions have been reached to seek agility, effectiveness and efficiency in public management with absolute guarantee and respect for legality, but eliminating absurd bureaucratic procedures and seeking effectiveness and efficiency in public management. ".
Regarding the presence of sparkling drinks, he said that "they were limited" and free as a result of a wedding held in the same hotel and "that they had left over." The rest of the drinks served were water, soft drinks, beer; wine from Tirajanas and Lanzarote. She refused to have caviar or seafood at dinners. "The contracted menu of both cocktail appetizers and dinner dishes are the standard menu offered by the catering for any event consisting of varied canapes and a starter, a meat and a fish. There was no special menu or dishes different from those that catering serves at any wedding or communion". He recalled that the hotel was four stars and that this establishment was chosen for the purposes of promoting the Dunes of Maspalomas and that the events on the street were with reuse of materials.
He indicated that the speakers at the congress did not charge anything for their intervention at the congress; their intervention was completely free and altruistic. "They were top-level speakers who participated in international forums and the organization only covered accommodation and travel expenses," he added. He added that "there were no first class flights, everyone traveled economy class from their workplace to Gran Canaria."
