The owner of the dog hit a tied dog with no escape with a stick, stone and a wooden board

During the course of the investigation, a veterinarian who collaborates with the municipal animal collection company was investigated for a crime of omission, providing an untrue report.

Last October, the SEPRONA Neighborhood Patrol investigated two people, one of them for the crime of animal abuse and/or abandonment and the other for the crime of omission and falsification of documents, the first of them for the possession of 4 dogs. in a private home in a precarious state, according to images provided, it was observed how the owner of the dogs hit a mixed-breed dog with a stick, then with a stone and later with a wooden board, and the other person for providing optional reports that It did not correspond to the reality of the state of the animal, in the municipality of Mogán.

Knowledge of the facts

The investigation was initiated by SEPRONA as a result of the collaboration of citizens and a protector, by providing a video where the owner of the dogs can be seen aggressively hitting one of them repeatedly, with no escape to escape since he himself was He was tied with a short chain to reduce movement.

For this reason, SEPRONA goes to the place where the events occurred to corroborate that the dogs were in the location provided, and rescue the animals from the atrocities suffered. At the home, the four dogs were identified with their ID card and microchip, three of them being mixed breeds and one of them being a hound, all of them tied with a chain no more than two meters long, lacking a roof to protect themselves from the inclemencies. weather and food, there being no cleaning whatsoever where they were tied, since the floor was full of excrement.

In addition, the municipal services were informed so that the animal collection services could take charge of the dogs and their respective records, drawing up a record of this and requesting the corresponding report to assess the condition of the dogs and the dog that received the beating. . The owner took advantage of the situation and expressed his desire to get rid of three of the dogs to whoever wanted to keep them, so the shelter who was part of the collaboration offered to rescue him and thus be able to give them up for adoption. For this reason, SEPRONA requested another report to corroborate the status of the dogs since the company that collaborates with the municipality did not provide them until the dogs were already in the possession of the shelter.

The veterinarian who collaborated with the municipality's animal collection company provided a report on the dogs, informing that none of them have infectious-contagious diseases, all of them being well hydrated and without external parasites, stating that their body condition is quite good.

The Civil Guard, faced with this information, contrasted the report of the veterinarian who collaborates with the municipal company and that of the shelter that finally picked up the animals. Because the reports were totally contradictory, the shelter indicated that the hygienic state was deplorable in the one where the dogs were, with untreated wounds, pain in extremities and even without being able to support themselves and great external parasitization by fleas and ticks.

Due to these events, two people were investigated, the owner of the dogs and a veterinarian, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of animal abuse and a crime of omission and falsification of documents respectively, with the proceedings being made available to the San Bartolomé Guard Court. of Tirajana, as well as the Provincial Environmental Prosecutor's Office of Las Palmas.
