Rufo alleged that he had not relied on the PP to prepare the budgets and that he did not share the expenses allocated to a Congress of National Qualified Persons held in Maspalomas.
This afternoon's meeting was called by the mayor, Francisco García, and the leaders of the Gran Canaria PP manager and councilor Marcos Rufo were also invited. However, no representative of the management company or the councilor who failed to comply with the government agreement in the last plenary session attended. The leaders of the three parties that signed the current government pact in March 2020 analyzed the situation created by the indiscipline of Marcos Rufo and the statements from the manager of the Popular Party of Gran Canaria. In the opinion of the representatives of Nueva Canarias, La Fortaleza and the Popular Party of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, the signed government program is being fulfilled, and there are no reasons to break said government agreement.
The leaders of these three political forces consider that the indiscipline of councilor Marcos Rufo in the last plenary session is due to a strategy that the manager of the PP of Gran Canaria has been carrying out for several months, they are closing an electoral agreement for May 2023 with the Group of Neighbors led by Marco Aurelio Pérez. This strategy is inconsistent with the existence of a stable municipal government of Santa Lucía de Tirajana that complies with a government program that has the citizens of Santa Lucía de Tirajana as its center. That is why the leaders of the insular management of the PP have publicly asked that the councilors leave the government.
Both Nueva Canarias and La Fortaleza value very positively the work that the councilor and top leader of the PP of Santa Lucía de Tirajana Sergio Vega has been doing.
