Councilor Sergio Vega assumes second term as mayor
The mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Francisco García, signed a decree this Thursday in which the powers that the Popular Party councilor, Marcos Rufo, had until now were withdrawn. The first mayor assumes the delegations of Management, Collection and Tax Inspection, Maintenance, Municipal Warehouse, Parks and Gardens and Mobile Park held by the councilor who voted against the budgets in the plenary session last Thursday. In the same decree, Marcos Rufo's second mayoral term is also withdrawn, which is also assumed by PP councilor Sergio Vega.
The mayor stated that “at the meeting of the Pact Monitoring Table held yesterday afternoon with the representatives of Nueva Canarias, La Fortaleza and the president of the Popular Party of Santa Lucía de Tirajana we decided to continue with our government pact, because we are fulfilling the program that we signed in March 2020, which has the citizens of our municipality as its center.” García added that “voting against the municipal budgets for next year represents a serious breach of our pact and, as I said on the day of the plenary session, it has its consequences, but the important thing is that we have the 2023 budgets approved and we continue to have the majority in the municipal plenary session.”
In the plenary session held last Thursday, November 24, the Popular Party councilor, Marcos Rufo, added his negative vote to the budgets to those of the opposition parties. However, the other mayor of the Popular Party in the Municipal Corporation, Sergio Vega, who is also president of the PP in this municipality, complied with the government agreement signed in March 2020 and voted in favor of the 2023 budgets.
