The Festivities of Santa Lucía de Tirajana return this year in all their splendor, the Non Trubada group will read the proclamation next Wednesday, December 7, the big day will be like every year on December 13 with the meeting between the Swedish Lucía and the chosen by the Tirajan people and on December 18 will be the Los Labradores Pilgrimage, which returns after two years of absence due to the restrictions caused by the Covid19 pandemic.
This Saturday, December 3, the Christmas lights will be turned on. December 6 at 16 p.m. will be Senior's Day, this year tribute is paid to María Rodríguez Ravelo. In the afternoon in the library there will be the vote for the election of the Canarian Lucía, you can vote all afternoon. On Wednesday the 7th after mass the Non Trubada group will read the proclamation.
The program continues on Thursday, December 8 at 11 a.m. in the municipal park, Children's Day will be celebrated with bouncy castles and workshops, at 17 p.m. there will be the hifi stopover. On Friday, December 9 at 18.30:22 p.m. there will be the hifi stopover for adults and at XNUMX p.m. there will be the tribute to Camilo by Kevin Carballo
On Saturday, December 10, in the morning there will be a family gymkhana and a children's party and at 18.30:23 p.m. on the stairs of the Town Hall there will be the XLV Caldera de Tirajana Folkloric Meeting with Bejeque and the Tira-Jana dance group. At 11 p.m. there will be the festival. On Sunday the 12th at 101 noon at the sports center 'Santa Lucía al son' is celebrated, music with XNUMX Brass Band, Kilombo Improvised, Pedro Afonso, Aseres and Son cache. It will also be the Solidarity Kaminata organized by Karna.
Tuesday, December 13 will be the main day of the festivities, at 7 a.m. it will be the Diana Floreada, at 9 a.m. the livestock fair. At 11 a.m. in the full hall, the Swedish Lucía and the Canarian Lucía were welcomed by the Municipal Corporation and the Festival Commission. In the afternoon at 19 p.m. there will be the musical show, a night with Chavela, on the stairs of the Town Hall.
Pilgrimage of Los Labradores
The mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Francisco García, states that “from the City Council and the Santa Lucía y los Labradors Cultural Association we have been working for several months on the preparation of the festival program that returns this year with events in the streets, I hope that come from all the municipalities to the different events that are scheduled.” The mayor highlights that “there are many events, I would highlight three big dates, the proclamation by a group that has been on stage for 30 years and is a musical reference in the Canary Islands, the big day of the festivities, the 13th. December, with the meeting of Lucía who comes from Sweden and the chosen one in our town, and on Sunday, December 18, when thousands of Gran Canarian people will come to the Las Tirajanas basin to enjoy the tremendous Pilgrimage of Los Labradores where the tirajaneros We will offer concoction, mantecados, chicharrones, olives and, above all, tradition and culture.”
One of the criers, Non Trubada musician Fermín Rodríguez, points out that “we took on the task of announcing the proclamation with great enthusiasm and responsibility, because, in addition, it coincides with the thirty years that we have been defending the music and culture of our islands.” Rodríguez adds that "we are musicians, we do not make proclamations, but making this proclamation has been a real challenge for us and we are very happy with the result and we hope that many people will come to join us on the evening of December 7."
According to the festival program, on Sunday, December 18 at 13 p.m., the Pilgrimage of Los Labradores will begin, where in addition to the carts, there will be parties and food such as olives, mantecados, cheese, chicharrones or concoction. Los Labradores is one of the most popular pilgrimages in Gran Canaria and parties from all municipalities usually attend it. At the end of the pilgrimage, in the municipal park, Paco Guedes will perform.
