Vicente Araña president, new manager of the Popular Party of Santa Lucía de Tirajana

 

The Popular Party (PP) of Gran Canaria reports the creation of a local manager in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, an agreement adopted this Wednesday unanimously by the island leadership of the political party, given the situation generated by the president until today local party in that municipality, Mr. Sergio Vega.

 

Vicente Araña, historic leader of the Popular Party in Santa Lucía, has been appointed president of the management company, a task in which he will be accompanied by Marcos Rufo as Local Secretary. Araña was the PP candidate for mayor of Santa Lucía in the municipal elections of 1995, achieving the best electoral results that the PP has obtained in its history, with 7 minutes of councilors in the Santa Lucía City Council.

 

 

The new local president of the PP of Santa Lucía occupies the new responsibility after more than 20 years of membership in the party and does so by recovering a large group of historical members and sympathizers. Marcos Rufo, current councilor of the Popular Party in the southern City Council, will occupy the responsibility of the local General Secretariat and will continue to defend the popular approaches and criteria in the Consistory of the municipality of the southeastern region of the Island.

 

The Island General Secretary of the PP of Gran Canaria, Ángel Sabroso, points out that “it is time for enthusiasm and unity in Santa Lucia, to build a solid alternative, a winning government option and to strengthen the acronym of the Popular Party with the sum of all those in Santa Lucía who want a change in the mayor's office.”

 

“We are very excited about Araña's recovery for such an important task, since with him comes a large group of members and historical sympathizers of the Popular Party, which has never ceased to be his home. Bringing together the greatest number of sensitivities possible, bringing together under the acronym of the PP all those who want a change of government in Saint Lucia is the main objective of our formation,” he adds.

 

In relation to the situation of councilor Sergio Vega, until today president of the local committee of the PP of Santa Lucía who has been replaced by Araña, Sabroso insisted on the same idea that the party leadership has indicated until today: “Everyone fits here and everyone are important. If you follow the established criterion of abandoning the government pact in the Santa Lucía City Council, everything is reconducible,” he concludes.
