Admission is free until capacity is reached.
The Department of Culture of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, directed by Elena Espino, announces the arrival of the XV Canary Islands Folk Festival to the municipality this Sunday, December 11, starting at 20:00 p.m. Admission is free until the capacity of the Plaza de San Fernando is full, where the public will be able to enjoy the performances of two musical shows by Bejeque and Los Granjeros.
The festival is developed with the intention of opening a space for groups that draw the sound landscape of the Canary Islands together with artists from other latitudes. Through other annexes, it includes parallel activities designed so that all sectors and ages can participate actively, while encouraging interest among the population in customs and popular culture.
On this occasion, the festival comes to the municipality with performances by two consolidated groups in the Canarian musical scene. Bejeque was born as a group in October 1995, defining itself as an autonomous cultural movement whose fundamental objective is the empowerment of our Canarian identity through popular music and the rescue of our traditions.
For its part, Los Granjeros was born in Arucas in 1969, self-defined as a group with its own personality whose fundamental objective is to give voice, through its musical work, to society's problems, its concerns and its feelings.
This activity is part of the Christmas programming of the Department of Culture, the rest of the activities can be consulted on the social networks “Culture and Historical Heritage of San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Facebook) and @CulturaypatrimonioSBT (Instagram).
