Gran Canaria Tourism has its own space at the Ministerial Conference on Digital Economy of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) that is held in Gran Canaria, with several days of meetings, meetings and presentations at the Congress Palace from Maspalomas, Expomeloneras. The Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, acted as host to receive the authorities participating in this summit with more than 50 international delegations, hundreds of professionals in the field of digitalization and a list of regional authorities and ministerial meetings headed by Nadia Calviño, Minister of Economy and Finance of Spain and Ángel Víctor Torres, President of the Government of the Canary Islands.

“It is a very important event and it is also an opportunity to teach the virtues, attractions and all the potential of the Gran Canaria destination to the many participants of the congress in addition to the authorities who are there, within a framework such as this OECD Congress that had not met for more than three years and that have a program and content that is of special importance for the tourism sector, since the keys to digitalization will be discussed,” said Carlos Álamo.

The counselor accompanied the authorities on their tour of the Congress Palace, attended the opening ceremony and several conferences in a program where references to the digitalization process in the Canary Islands stand out. “This is an important fact for the Canary Islands and for the tourism sector especially, since one of the trends that are imposed after the pandemic are based on the keys to digitalization and the new relationships that are generated between the client and the tourism company, detailed and personalized information and the possibility of designing each trip, from the reservation to the activities to be carried out during it, based on interest and priorities from the computer and mobile phone. Therefore, we will be very attentive to the conclusions,” he concluded.
