The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Conchi Narváez, highlighted today the importance and impact that the holding of the OECD Digital Economy Ministerial Conference has been held in this municipality. “It has been a historic event.”
This is how he spoke this morning at the Expomeloneras headquarters, during his attendance at the opening ceremony with the president of the Canary Islands Government, Ángel Víctor Torres; the first vice president and minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño; the secretary general of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Mathias Cormann, among other authorities.
Narváez highlighted that “this summit is the first time it has been held on the European continent, which is equivalent to multiple benefits for Maspalomas Costa Canaria as a brand and safe, friendly, modern tourist destination with an exceptional climate, as well as for the international speaker that is this conference; but, equally, because it has created jobs and has stimulated local commerce, hospitality and the hotel sector.”
The first mayor expressed that "we received in San Bartolomé de Tirajana more than 30 countries from the five continents, with their ministers and secretaries of State for the Economy, with more than 1.300 delegations and experts from the main world companies in this field, working and analyzing the universe of new technologies and the digital economy, which are the main factor in the present and future development of the economy of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and the rest of Europe.”
