Two festivals to say goodbye to the Jacobean year in San Bartolomé de Tirajana

The Department of Culture and Historical Heritage, directed by Elena Espino Santana, closes the programming of the Jacobean Holy Year 2022 with two events at the Maspalomas Lighthouse and Tunte. Firstly, the Plaza de Tunte will host the Festival of Canary-Galicia Traditions this Saturday, December 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 20:00 p.m. The fundamental objective of this activity is to energize the area and local commerce with activities that value Canarian culture and Galician culture, twinned on the occasion of the Jacobean Holy Year.

 

Live Canarian music with a dance group, traditional games, bagpipe performances, children's entertainment, workshops, inflatables, a concert and a craft market will energize the Plaza de Tunte. Furthermore, on this occasion the Department of Culture has made a bus available to people interested in attending, from the Maspalomas Cultural Center. The bus leaves at 10:00 and returns at 19:00 p.m. To register for transportation it is necessary to call 928 72 00 35 from 16:00 p.m. to 20:30 p.m.

 

On the other hand, this Sunday, December 18, the esplanade of the Maspalomas Lighthouse will host the event called “Xacobea Christmas in Maspalomas”, which will last until Tuesday the 20th. Three intense days of dynamization of the departure and arrival point of the Camino de Santiago between Volcanoes in the municipality. Attendees will be able to enjoy a batucada, inflatables, creative Christmas workshops, concerts, a Purple Market with crafts and many more surprises from 10:00 a.m. to 21:00 p.m.

 

Finally, with the aim of decorating the places where the Camino de Santiago passes through volcanoes, the Department of Culture has commissioned two Christmas decorations that have been installed in the Plaza de Fataga and the Plaza de Tunte, made by Aarón Martín.
