On June 30, 2022, the Canarian Confederation of Businessmen elected the director of La Iseña, Pedro Ortega, as the new president of the large employers' association of Las Palmas. No one from the Las Palmas FEHT is present in the executive since the tourism sector reported that its representation was being hacked by Lopesan, who has a presence in the executive.
Since then, the FEHT of Las Palmas does not share photos with any president of the CCE of Las Palmas, causing other entities to gain space in access to centers of power when they lack real power in the sector, much less institutional representation. This has been noted when the CCE of Las Palmas does not support the FEHT on the RIU problem in Fuerteventura or on the matter of the Santa Águeda cement factory. In Las Palmas there is a movement to troll the FEHT and turn it into a Fecao; but that has not happened because the tourism sector remains united like a pineapple.
Thus, some gesture was expected from the tourism companies to redirect the procedures and forms with the south of Gran Canaria. Ortega has been leading the FEHT of Las Palmas for six months and when he comes to the region it is to attend conferences and share photos in Meloneras. There is no one from the tourism sector in the CCE of Las Palmas. The vice presidents are Andrés Domínguez Pérez, María de la Salud Gil Romero and Juan Ramírez Said; while the representative vice-presidencies of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are in the hands of José Antonio Newport Machín and Francisco Martínez García, respectively. Virgilio Correa Suárez, for Asinca, completes the list of charges.
