The new provisional contract was announced by Ana Hernández, the mayor of Ingenio presented accompanied by Óscar Hernández, mayor of Agüimes and José Moreno, councilor for Waste Collection, Street Cleaning and Water of the Santa Lucía City Council
The Commonwealth of the Southeast has today announced the provisional contract that it awards for the next ten years and which is divided into two parts. The first part assigns waste management to the company AZ Servicios Urbanos y Medioambiente SLU, for a value of 89,1 million euros. Likewise, this part of the contract has been divided into three lots corresponding to the municipalities that make up the Commonwealth, assuming a budget of 44,8 million from Santa Lucía de Tirajana, 23,5 million from Ingenio and 20,4 million from Agüimes.
This new contract will mean an improvement in services that will be directly noticed by the residents of the three member municipalities of the community. Among these improvements we can find a new fleet of trucks with reduced CO2 emissions and high loading capacity, the renewal of containers and more services related to waste collection, transportation and management.
The second part of the contract consists of a fourth lot worth 9,5 million euros and awarded to the company Ayagaures Medioambiente SLU, which will be responsible for the collection and transportation of urban solid waste. As the mayor of Ingenio pointed out, although the first lot represents a considerable reduction in CO2 emissions, the one awarded to the company Ayagaures Medioambiente SLU will achieve 0 waste emissions, something that will be achieved thanks to a collection vehicle with a crane with a label environmental 0.
The representatives of the Commonwealth who announced the proposal stressed the importance of renewing waste collection and management services, emphasizing the search to reduce the carbon emissions that this activity entails. The total of the new contract, in its two parts, represents a total amount of 98,7 million euros.
Ana Hernández reported that once the companies present the necessary documentation for the validation of the contract, they will begin to work side by side towards this new stage that the Commonwealth hopes will represent a substantial improvement in both the services offered to its inhabitants and in reducing CO2 emissions.
