After two editions absent due to the health crisis, the Veneguera Living Nativity Scene returns this December 25, Christmas, which will be its thirty-fifth anniversary. The natural space of La Cardonera will host more than thirty spaces in which Canarian, folkloric, artisanal and gastronomic traditions will be recreated. The activity, organized by the Belén Viviente Veneguera Collective with the collaboration of the Mogán City Council, will be available from 19:00 p.m. Previously, at 17:30 p.m., the Christmas Mass will take place in the neighborhood church.

About 250 people, including residents of the municipality, the Belén Viviente Veneguera Collective, artisans and members of folklore groups, participate this Sunday in the representation of traditional Canarian chores of yesteryear. More than thirty scenes among which you will find those of livestock and agricultural work, the washerwomen, the blacksmith, the stonemason, a horn artisan and another of wooden toys as well as a school, among others.

“We always try to change,” reported Antonio Suárez, known as 'Ñito', member of the Belén Viviente Veneguera Collective, pointing out as one of the novelties “the house with the parturient woman”, which will represent a group of neighbors from the center of the municipality, “ and some other things, but to know them you have to come and see the Nativity scene.”

The Nativity will be located in the center of La Cardonera, with Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus being represented by the neighbors Arabella, Airam, and the baby Alana. During the tour, attendees will also be able to enjoy a typical neighborhood party from the 70s in which there will be different games, as well as music from the La Villa de Agüimes Folkloric Group, the Los Labrantes Folkloric and Cultural Association from Arucas and Los Tempranillo party.

There will be no shortage of pumpkin tortillas, buns, buttermilk, cheese, hot chocolate and wood-fired bread, all freshly made and ready to enjoy in the beautiful setting.

Mass of Christmas

Prior to the opening of the Veneguera Living Nativity Scene, a Christmas Mass will take place at 17:30 p.m. in the Nuestra Señora de Fátima Church, from which Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus will leave for the portal.

The Mogán City Council contributes a subsidy to the Living Belén Collective of Veneguera, the electrical installation and the security plan.
