The attendance exceeded previous years, where a thousand attendees enjoyed the show
The new format of the Maspalomas New Year's concert has been successful, with the participation of more than a thousand people who enjoyed a great show in an incomparable setting such as the Maspalomas Lighthouse.
For the first time, the New Year's concert, held last Sunday, January 1, was performed by the Gran Canaria Big Band. This was decided by the Department of Culture of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, directed by Elena Espino. In addition to the new format, on this occasion we also wanted to change the location. While on previous occasions it was held at the Mirador de las Dunas, this time the place chosen was the esplanade of the Maspalomas Lighthouse.
"Daring to risk is synonymous with moving forward and building," with these words Espino has evaluated the results of this new format, which has been very well accepted by the resident citizens, who were joined by hundreds of tourists who were there last Sunday with an excellent quality concert. The final result has been a considerably higher attendance than in previous years.
On this occasion, the Gran Canaria Big Band offered the show called “Swing and Latin – Querido Pablo”, under the direction of its artistic director, Chano Gil. Latin rhythms invaded the place through the voices of Virginia Guantanameta and Fasur Rodríguez. In addition, a small tribute to the recently deceased Pablo Milanés could not be missed.
Without a doubt, the notoriety of this concert marks the transition to the municipality's cultural programming for 2023. “We are working to raise the level of cultural actions in the municipality and we will continue to focus on the professionalism and good work of bands like Gran Canaria Big Band”, concluded Espino.
