At around 14:50 p.m., the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert reporting a traffic accident, with a motorcycle and a bicycle involved, in the GC-65 highway, municipality of Santa Lucía.
A person who identified himself as a doctor at the scene of the accident provided the first attention to those affected.
A man who, at the initial moment of assistance, presented severe head trauma, was transferred in critical condition by GES helicopter, assisted during the flight by a doctor and a nurse from the SUC, to the helisurface of the Gran Canaria University Hospital Doctor Negrin.
Another man who, at the initial moment of care, presents multiple minor erosions, except for complications, is transferred by sanitized ambulance from the SUC to the San Roque University Hospital in Maspalomas.
The SUC Staff, along with a medical and nursing team from the area health center, assessed and assisted the two affected people. The cyclist was transferred by SUC sanitized ambulance to the aforementioned hospital and the motorcyclist, who had been located on a hillside several meters from the road, once stabilized, was evacuated by GES helicopter, assisted during the flight by a doctor and a SUC nurse, to the helisurface of the Doctor Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria.
1-1-2 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources, the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) with a basic life support ambulance, a sanitized ambulance and a medicalized ambulance. The Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands with a rescue helicopter, also the Local Police, the General Corps of the Canarian Police and the Civil Guard.
The police forces activated by the Coordinating Center collaborated with health personnel, regulated traffic on the road and carried out the corresponding report.
