'Latin Dancer' official poster of the Maspalomas International Carnival 2023

 

The poster for the Maspalomas International Carnival this year 2023 'Latin Dancer' will be the official image of this edition, which will be dedicated to Latin Rhythms. 

 

This has been decided by the citizens who participated in the popular vote called by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council and whose deadline ended at midnight yesterday, after six days of public presentation, with three proposals.   

 

Proposal 2, 'Latin Dancer', with 64,8% of the votes cast, was the winner. The work shows a dancer dressed in the typical attire of a Latin dance and, likewise, the Maspalomas Lighthouse is located in the background of the pictorial work, silhouetted from the edge of the ocean.

 

In second place was `Tango con Mi Sardina', which registered 21,95%, while `Do we dance? ´ returned 13,4% of the registered options.

 

 

The three works presented, offered without any financial compensation, have been made by the City Council's Design technician, and by the entity that won the competition for the creation and artistic direction of the 2023 carnival, which finally resulted in first place.

 

The carnival, more international than ever

 

One more year, both the allegory and the poster for the San Bartolomé de Tirajana carnivals have been chosen by the citizens through a popular vote. 

 

"They are the town's festivities, which is why we wanted to open to popular opinion what image they want to become the official icon of the carnival with the greatest international impact of those celebrated in the Canary Islands," said Mayor Conchi Narváez, once known the final result.

 

Therefore, the 2023 Maspalomas International Carnival, which will be held from March 9 to 19, as was unanimously approved in the municipal plenary session in July of last year, already has its official image. 

 

“From the mayor's office, with the close collaboration of different municipal areas, we have anticipated in a timely manner so that the tourism sector has ample margin to promote the Maspalomas International Carnival and manage the subsequent reservations. This is how we have done it. The sector's forecasts point to very high occupancy. It is very likely that this will be the most international carnival held in our municipality,” said the councilor.
