Gran Canaria designers will participate in Copenhagen Fashion Week next August

 

Designers from Gran Canaria will have the opportunity to present their collections at the next Copenhagen Fashion Week, the main Nordic catwalk, thanks to the agreement reached these days by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Minerva Alonso, with the representatives of the organization that organizes this event. , the Fashion Council of Denmark, and as explained, the selection will be carried out through a call that will include the Warm Fashion criteria “among which internationalization (having a website or working with the Chamber of Commerce) will be decisive, but also those of the Danish organization, among which is the sustainability that characterizes this event,” the counselor explained from Copenhagen.

 

The Ministry of Industry and the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria are promoting the Gran Canaria Swimwear Week in Copenhagen, with a virtual campaign whose objective was to achieve this participation in August which, after the meeting with the executive director of the Week of Danish Fashion, Cecilie Thorsmark, is confirmed. 

 

 

The presentation took place yesterday at the New Glyptoteca of Carlsberg, one of the main museums in the Danish capital, where the counselor presented the Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida as the only swimwear week in Europe, “so It is essential that synergies are created between Canarian and European companies and that other fashion fairs are visited to sell our products,” he said. 

 

Stand at the Revolver Fair

 

In fact, today, representatives from the Regional Ministry and the Chamber of Commerce also visited the Revolver Fair, which coexists with Copenhagen Fashion Week, to assess the possibility of having a stand at the next edition with a sample of the designers who will be showing their collections, as well as making contacts with Copenhagen Cartel , a Danish firm that showed its collection in October, and with a Greek firm that could participate in the next edition.

 

The Ministry of Industry began an internationalization plan five years ago that included, first, an agreement with Ifema to organize the catwalk, in addition to work with the Chamber of Commerce, which has resulted in actions such as attendance at the Italian Mare fair. da Mare, or the Berlin Fashion Week, with which the first European Fashion Alliance has been promoted.

 

"Gran Canaria is a tourist destination, with sun and sand, although we also have magnificent peaks and, for us, it is very important to take advantage of this promotion of our swimwear fashion week to promote our destination. I believe, and this is what our experts have informed us , that this is our market. And we are going to continue working in northern Europe," the counselor stated yesterday.

 

The collaboration with Copenhagen arises from the mutual recognition between two "important" platforms and the "need" to position themselves as "global players," Thorsmark explained.
