The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Conchi Narváez, attended the premiere of the Children's Traffic Park at the CEIP Aldea Blanca, in which five-year-old schoolchildren were introduced to the culture of road safety.
Along with the first mayor was the Councilor for Education, Clari Martel, an area that promotes these awareness-raising talks-workshops in all the municipality's schools, which also include awareness-raising related to the ownership and care of pets.
These classes are taught by members of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Local Police who, course after course, continue with the development of awareness workshops, both on road safety education and on the responsible ownership of pets in the municipality's educational centers.
“We want our primary school girls and boys to learn, in an enjoyable, close and practical way, the basic concepts of prevention and safety on the roads. And our Local Police is in charge of it,” said Narváez.
This corporation is committed to these matters in the early ages, with the mayor referring to aspects such as “the correct way to walk on the sidewalk, respect for traffic light signals, behavior on public transportation, as well as circulation. on bicycles or scooters.”
Pet care
Councilor Clari Martel, for her part, pointed out that “members of the Canine Unit also participate in these meetings to raise awareness of the importance of proper handling of pets, given its implications for animal well-being, the community and public health. ”.
He reminded the little ones that, “fortunately, animals are already considered in Spain as sentient beings, which means that they cannot be abandoned, mistreated or separated from one of their owners.”
The talk-workshop given yesterday is part of a global program that will benefit more than 400 5-year-old students from all the CEIPs and CEOs of the municipality. Program that has been developed with the purpose of responding to the demand of educational centers.
