The entity appreciates the collaboration of citizens and the business community of the municipality through participation in surveys on digital needs

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has carried out a diagnosis of the local digital economy, a document that will serve as a basis for defining a strategy to promote digitalization in the municipality.

This diagnosis analyzes the situation of digitalization in the municipality based on 7 differentiated components: ITCC Sector, Digital Transformation of the Company, People, Connectivity, Digital Public Services, Training and Infrastructures for Business Development.

“This work would not have been possible without the collaboration of the citizens and the business community of the municipality” – comments the Councilor for New Technologies Antonio F. Pérez, thanking the participation in the surveys on digital needs launched, which remained open until November 27, 2022.

CONCLUSIONS :

The Councilor responsible for the project highlighted in the meeting held today with the social agents and media attendees, the conclusions of the work that should serve as a basis for the development of the Smart Digital Economy Strategy for San Bartolomé de Tirajana, allowing to define and plan Possible actions to improve and solve weaknesses, and to highlight and continue increasing strengths.

.

  • ITCC Sector. The number of companies in the ITCC Sector, according to data from CNAE, is 60 in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, a fairly low number if we calculate it based on the population of the municipality. New needs arise every time that require the creation of new services and products, so it is necessary to try to increase this number, in order to promote this diversification and local digitalization. In addition, TICC fabric is also an employment niche for the unemployed in the municipality, who should be prepared to occupy positions in these companies.

  • Digital transformation of the company. Companies are changing and are being aware of the need to adapt to the current situation and join all the projects that the City Council is developing. However, it is noted that the use of new technologies remains scarce in the municipality. Currently, 30% of the companies surveyed dedicate their activity to new technologies. Strategies are necessary to encourage companies to create a website that allows them to advertise and market their products and services. In this regard, 40% of companies do not have their own website and more than 70% cannot sell their products through Internet. Likewise, you can see how companies continue to rely mainly on basic digital tools, leaving aside other important marketing applications to give visibility to their business or facilitate their processes. Therefore, the need to continue helping companies in other digital areas and adapting to this new era is highlighted.

  • Digital skills of citizens. The use of the Internet and technological equipment by citizens is increasing. On a personal and professional level, the search for information predominates and the use of email and instant messages are the main communication channels that the analyzed sample declares to use. Likewise, accessing websites and carrying out procedures are regular practices. This means that the digitalization of the municipality is being carried out both in the entities and in the citizens. However, these practices are relatively basic in the middle-aged and elderly population. Just like companies, it is necessary to raise awareness about the importance of having digital skills that facilitate their daily lives, both on a personal and professional level, or even to access a job.

  • Connectivity the fact that San Bartolomé de Tirajana does not have white zones (those that do not have coverage of new generation broadband networks, nor provisions for their provision by any operator within a period of 3 years, based on investment plans credible) is a very positive aspect. According to the survey data, the majority of companies and citizens have an internet connection (98,41% of companies and 93,64% of citizens), and fiber optics predominate with 76,19% and 83,67%. .XNUMX% respectively. Among electronic devices, the smartphone stands out in both cases.

  • Digital public services. The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council must work on greater digitalization of the municipal services it offers, both to citizens and companies. Keeping track of the number of digital procedures used, or the number of people who use it annually, helps to improve these services. In this regard, an exponential growth is observed in the number of digital procedures carried out through check-in compared to 2021 and 2022. Let us remember that the digitalization of the Public Administration is crucial to optimize processes and save time and resources, facilitating both to the user as well as to the entity itself.

  • Training. The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council does not offer training on digital issues to its companies and citizens, which can lead to the digital divide in the municipality. Furthermore, given the speed of the digital transformation, obtaining digital skills is crucial for companies, not only because it is an element of competitiveness, but because it has already become an element of survival, and for citizens, as a requirement for when it comes to finding a job, accessing certain positions or even staying in a job.

  • Infrastructures. San Bartolomé de Tirajana has the optimal characteristics to be a destination for Digital Nomads, and it is necessary to propose strategies to promote the growth of these new profiles and offer them adequate work spaces. Despite the existence of a multitude of coworkings and business centers, it is necessary to increase their visibility and analyze whether they meet the requirements of current and potential users. Furthermore, it is necessary for the City Council to promote the creation of business accelerators and incubators, in order to also support entrepreneurship in the municipality.

From this moment on, the City Council continues to work with the Local Working Group made up of companies, associations and municipal technicians, for the analysis of the diagnosis and subsequent development of the strategy to promote the local digital economy, working in the ITCC Sector, Digital Transformation. of the Company, People and training, Entrepreneurship, Public Infrastructures, Connectivity and Digital Public Services.
