Representatives of 3rd and 4th grade of primary school from the different schools in the municipality conveyed their ideas to the councilors of education and parks and gardens, and to the technicians of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana town council
Clari Martel highlighted the work carried out by the boys and girls and expressed her commitment to the suggestions presented, “which will be taken into account when renewing the parks.”
The 'Parqueando Mi Barrio' project, whose objective is to instill in the children of San Bartolomé de Tirajana the need for the care and conservation of the municipality's parks, concludes its second phase with the celebration of the Children's Commission, which was attended by two representatives of each school settled in the term.
This initiative is promoted by the Departments of Education and Parks and Gardens led by Clari Martel and Nélida García, respectively. This activity is carried out through the Kutumpam publishing house.
During the event, “the students were able to share an enriching day in which interests, proposals for improvement and commitments for the care of the parks and play areas of the municipality, worked on during these four months that the project has been underway, were collected and summarized.” Martel explained.
More than 700 participating students
More than 700 students have participated in the project and more than 600 posters have been collected that express a new and committed feeling about their parks, which demonstrates clear success in initiatives that include boys and girls in political life.
These workshops began last October, “with the aim of reflecting on the state of the parks, learning the meaning of their signage and working on different creative writing tools and drawing techniques, to, finally, make more original posters, cheerful and within reach of the understanding of his peers,” highlighted the councilor of Parks and Gardens, Nélida García.
To end the day, the Councilor for Education, Clari Martel, the Parks and Gardens technician, Jésica Morales and the education technician, María Morales, attended the site to listen to the participants.
Martel highlighted the work carried out by the boys and girls and expressed his commitment to the suggestions presented, "which will be taken into account when renovating the parks."
At the end of the event, the posters that the city council will place in the 13 most representative parks (one park for each school) were selected.
All the work carried out will be visible in the traveling exhibition that will take place soon in the municipality and will be open to the public.
