The vehicles acquired by the City Council between 2019 and 2023 in order to improve municipal services and security, were presented at the Parque del Buen Suceso in Carrizal
The vehicle fleet of the Ingenio City Council has been renewed over the years, acquiring, between 2019 and 2023, nearly 30 new vehicles for different departments to be able to offer municipal services with greater guarantees of safety and quality. It has been an investment of approximately one million euros, a historic figure since such a large investment has never been made before in the acquisition of brand new vehicles. This also supports sustainable and non-polluting mobility and long-term cost reduction, avoiding the continued need to opt for rental for the performance of some fundamental services and eliminating second-hand purchases.
This has been a total renewal of the fleet, very necessary, taking into account that it was already limited and obsolete, with the vehicles exceeding, in most cases, 20 years old. The safety levels of vehicles had been reduced, also increasing their pollution levels.
Mayor Ana Hernández and councilors Víctor Vega and Ramón Tejera presented 21 of the 24 new vehicles on the morning of this Tuesday, February 28, at the Parque del Buen Suceso in Carrizal, along with personnel from a large number of departments. that have been acquired during this mandate. The list includes a crane and vans for Public Services; a backhoe, dump trucks with cages, vans and a crane truck for Roads and Works; vans and a truck for Parks and Gardens, a van for Sports, cars for the Technical Office, vehicles and motorcycles for the Ingenio Local Police and a pick up for Civil Protection.
As the mayor expressed during the presentation of the renewed fleet, this fulfills a commitment made at the beginning of the legislature that favors a large number of municipal areas “with the intention of improving, not only having new vehicles generation, but also an investment that is made for security, being the first time in the history of this city council that such a significant investment has been made in this matter, which is around one million euros."
