Los Legañosos won the first prize on the night of this Monday, February 20, in the murgas contest of the Carnival of Tales of Ingenio. Los Chacho Tú and Los Trapasones won second and third prize respectively. Carrizal's murga also won the 'José Rafael Hernández Rodríguez, letra con más Ingenio' award, with the song 'Encaja conNOS'.
The Costume awards went to Las Despistadas, Los Lengüetudos and Los Legañosos, in that order. The female murga Las Golisnionas won the Julio Rodríguez Viñoly award for best makeup. The Trapasones Star murga, made up of people with disabilities, performed for the first time on equal terms with the rest of the murgas, making this contest more inclusive.
This eighth edition, presented one more year during the two nights by Óliver Caballero, was organized by the City Council of Ingenio, through the Department of Celebrations, with the invaluable collaboration of Sin Ton Ni Son, which promotes this event, as well as of the Ingenio Carnival Board, the Los Lechoncitos children's murga and the neighborhood associations of Los Molinillos, Chaxiraxi and Alto Arena de Lomo Algodones that are immersed in the organization of this Carnival of Tales.
The programming continues this Tuesday, at 20.30:XNUMX p.m., in the tent located in the Plaza de La Candelaria with the Sardine Wake and the IV costume contest. The event will be presented by María Martín Herrera.
On Wednesday the Burial of the Sardine will be celebrated, one of the highlights of the Ingenio Carnival, which celebrates its 55th anniversary this year. Floats and allegorical groups, batucadas, troupes, music bands, murgas winners of the contest and hundreds of mascaritas will accompany the sardine on its journey, which begins at 20.30:XNUMX p.m. on Antonia Sebastiana Espino Sánchez street. After the burning of the Sardine in the square, the artist Tonny Tun Tun, the La Mekánica by Tamarindos orchestra and DJ Promaster will perform.
The First Meeting of Children's Murgas Villa de Ingenio, on Thursday the 23rd, the Drag Queen gala, with Daniel Calero as presenter and the performances of La Década Prodigiosa, Ni Un Pelo de Tonto and DJ Luis Marco, on Friday the 24th, the Young Carnival' In Genio', with DJs Alejo Sánchez, Toni Bob and Abián Reyes, on Saturday the 25th; and the Children's Carnival, with children's parades and bouncy castles, craft workshops, puppets, batucada, brass band, juggling, clown stilts, on Sunday the 26th, complete the Carnival of Ingenious Stories.
