Two people arrested for an alleged continued crime of animal abuse and abandonment in Santa Lucía

 

The Civil Guard of the Main Neighborhood Post and the SEPRONA of Vecindario, in Gran Canaria, on the 5th, investigated two people as alleged perpetrators of a continued crime of animal abuse and abandonment, of a Presa Canario breed dog that had a cut on the neck 25 centimeters long and of severe depth, in addition to extreme thinness since he lacked food and the little water he had was putrefied, in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana.

 

Knowledge of the facts

 

The Civil Guard was aware of the events as a result of the performance of its duties, carrying out citizen security service, it was observed that inside a piece of land there was a Presa Canario breed dog apparently in poor health and sanitary conditions, activating and informing the Vecindario SEPRONA of the facts.

 

 

 

For this reason, SEPRONA went to the place where the dog was to verify the mistreatment of the animal, being able to observe how inside the land there was a dog tied with a very short rope, not exceeding one meter in length, barely able to sit, having a chain collar which exerted pressure on his neck, causing a cut about 25 centimeters long and very deep just below the neck, the Civil Guard acting had to cut the chain from his neck with a shear since the animal could barely breathe normally.

 

 

The dog was howling and in poor health and sanitary conditions since it had no food or water, presenting a deplorable physical condition. Being malnourished, you could perfectly see its spine and ribs, having various wounds on its four legs and tail. . 

 

The corral where he was located had a shelter to protect him but due to the short rope to which he was tied he could not protect himself from inclement weather.

 

For all this, the municipal services were informed so that the animal collection services could take care of the dog, drawing up a record of this and requesting the corresponding report to assess its condition.
