Concern in Maspalomas due to continuous robberies in tourist areas

With the Maspalomas International Carnival just around the corner…

Thefts and robberies in tourist areas in the south of Gran Canaria are repeated with increasing frequency. Tourists are the main victims of this scourge, with shops and apartments or aparthotels being the main targets of criminals; However, many residents of the area claim to feel insecurity due to this situation.

Apart from the obvious damage that robberies and thefts can cause for residents, there is concern about the way in which this situation can affect tourism in the area, since according to sources, many tourists who are victims of theft have stated that they will not return after the bad experience. .

Both the tourism sector and the inhabitants of the area themselves demand greater police presence and security measures in order to deter criminals. Already in January of this same year, the National Police arrested four people accused of committing thefts and robberies in businesses in the south. "They all had police records."

We wonder...are we safe in San Bartolomé de Tirajana? We wonder...why aren't there more police officers on the streets of San Barolomé de Tirajana?....
