The Local Development area of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, directed by Elena Espino, has completed two Training Programs in Alternation with Employment (PFAE) called “Socorrista” and “Delicias”.
These programs, subsidized by the Canary Islands Employment Service, combine theoretical training with employment and are aimed at unemployed people with the aim of training them for a profession and facilitating access to the world of work through learning and professional experience. On this occasion, the programs have focused on the preparation of aquatic lifeguards and waiters, with a total of 15 students per program.
Among the actions carried out by the PFAE “Lifeguard” stands out its internship period at municipal sports facilities, its participation in events such as the “Regional Swimming Masters Championship”, held in San Fernando, or its assistance in the “Multidiversity Program”. and the “Values Path”, among other actions.
For its part, the PFAE “Delicias” has prepared weekly breakfast menus for the students of the CEIP Pepe Monagas and El Tablero, as well as appetizers for different events organized by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council such as the literary evening “Wines and Letters”. ”, the “Enamorar-T” project or Canarian promotion activities in the Tony Gallardo Park, among other actions.
The closing ceremony was held on February 28 at the El Tablero Cultural Center and was attended by Antonio Ojeda Domínguez, Head of the Workshop Schools Service of the Canary Islands Employment Service; Concepción Narváez, Mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Elena Espino, Councilor for Local Development.
During the event, Mayor Conchi Narváez noted that “during this legislature more than 130 people have been able to train through paid internships and access the labor market with an official certification in subjects so relevant to the economy of our municipality such as first aid, gardening or different branches of hospitality.” Finally, Elena Espino highlighted the importance of this type of initiatives "for the insertion of people who are actively searching for employment and improving the services offered in the world of work with a greater number of professionals."
