The renowned Gran Canaria political scientist and strategist Juan Verde has been appointed member of Joe Biden's Export Council. This appointment responds to the renewal of said council by the 46th president of the United States, who adds to his team a professional with extensive international experience in the field of political strategy, an area in which he has advised various European and American governments. .

 

Juan Verde was born in Telde on July 7, 1971, but he soon packed his bags for the United States to study Political Science and International Relations at Boston University, where he graduated cum laude. Already established in the United States, he obtained a master's degree in Public Policy at Harvard University. He also maintains his ties in Spain, where he researches national sustainable economic strategies at the Camilo José Cela University.

 

Juan Verde's relationship with the United States Democratic Party dates back to the presidency of Bill Clinton; During the term of the 42nd President of the United States he was International Trade Advisor at the Department of Commerce.

 

But, without a doubt, one of Juan's greatest achievements in the workplace was his time during the mandate of Barack Obama, who appointed him as Deputy Undersecretary for Europe and Eurasia, a position in which he was in charge of developing strategies and policies. to promote the relationship of the United States with more than fifty countries.

 

He has also worked with other recognized figures of the Democratic Party such as Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and Al Gore, with whom he has collaborated closely in the fight against climate change through the foundation Climate Reality Project. Together with Joe Biden he already worked as an advisor to his campaign in 2020.

 

Juan Verde has also collaborated with governments such as that of Lithuania, in addition to advising political leaders and candidates in Latin America. He also has experience in the private sector, where he has been a consultant and member of the boards of directors of renowned companies such as Airbus, Hispasat, Cisco, Banco Santander or Google.

 

Juan's work has been recognized by a multitude of entities, being part of the Top 100 Hispanic leaders in the fight against climate change and the top disruptive leaders of 2021 for two consecutive years, in addition to being invited to UN conferences. and even receive recognition from Pope Francis for his work; a professional background that places him as one of the most recognized and influential Gran Canarians internationally.
