More than 190 people paraded across the stage of the Víctor Jara theater in a show that brought the audience to its feet on several occasions.
The stage of the Víctor Jara theater became the Drawingland park, where Heidi, Úrsula, Candy, Michey, Shaggy, Maya or Pedro enter and exit, dress up as dolls, rehearse a number with dances that are reminiscent of the worlds of Pixar, Disney or Warner. Characters who left the television screen and who talk, argue and fall in love. This is the Cartoon Carnival that the Santa Lucía de Tirajana Animation Workshop brought to life on the afternoon and evening of this Friday in three different performances that filled the Víctor Jara theater. About 3.000 people enjoyed one more year the Carnival Allegory that the Animation Workshop has been carrying out for more than 30 years and which, after the proclamation, opens the Saint Lucian carnivals.
About two hundred people walked across the stage, sang, danced and managed to get the audience on their feet on several occasions, bringing to life the popular characters from the cartoons that have accompanied the childhood of several generations. Michey takes off the head that covers him and asks Jazmín, is it my turn now? And Jazmín tells him “Oh Mickey, I don't know what to do with you anymore..., you'll act like Winie de Po.” But Maya intervenes: "Don't worry, I'll be attentive... I'm also dancing in that number... Come with me...". The director thanks the public for his presence because “you help give the atmosphere to the Drawingland park, we want to make all the people who come happy.”
This is how the story unfolds where the cartoon characters show their human faces, talk, argue, get nervous, fall in love... The Animation Workshop once again made the audience of the Víctor Jara theater vibrate with a show that is renewed every year and that turns users of municipal centers for functional diversity, students and volunteers who want to help live a participatory carnival into actors, actresses and singers, where young and old have the opportunity to show their artistic talent.
The mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Francisco García, congratulated “those almost two hundred people, most of them volunteers, who with the Animation Workshop manage to put on a show every year that, as we have seen today, excites the public.” The first mayor invited “the citizens to participate in the events of the The Councilor for Culture, Yaiza Peréz, pointed out that “after three decades making the allegory, the Animation Workshop continues to surprise us, renewing each year a very participatory show that is part of the identity of the Santa Lucía de Tirajana carnival.”
