On February 28, the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council received 20 young people who will experience their first work experience in the local administration through the “EMPLEO YOVEN SBT” project.
The project has been managed by the Local Development Area, directed by Elena Espino, and is part of the First professional experience program in the public administrations of the Canary Islands within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan - financed by the European Union - Next Generation EU, subsidized by the Canary Islands Employment Service.
The objective of this program is to offer the opportunity to beneficiaries to acquire, within the services provided by public administrations, their first experiences in employment, as well as social and professional competencies and skills.
The hiring of the beneficiary personnel of this program lasts 12 months and focuses on young unemployed people whose training stage has been completed in the last three years. On this occasion, the 20 workers will carry out tasks in various areas of the town hall. Among the profiles hired are social educators, psychologists, occupational therapists, social integrators, Marketing and Advertising technicians, sociocultural and tourism animators, administrators, etc.
In addition to work experience, these young people will receive training on administration, team conflict resolution, equality plan, gender perspective as a work methodology, “well-being” and the importance of data protection.
At the presentation event, Elena Espino highlighted that “on many occasions the first work experiences of young people who have completed their higher education are not related to their profession, so this program represents an opportunity to acquire experiences in public administration during one year, thus enriching their resume and increasing job placement opportunities in their specialty.”
For her part, the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Concepción Narváez, addressed the beneficiaries of this program explaining that “we seek to improve the employment of qualified and prepared young men and women, with a promising work future, complementing their training with this first job opportunity in public administration and with equality policies", and also encouraged them to "make the most of this opportunity that is offered to them, because with practice is how knowledge is consolidated and that is how they can add value to companies, to public administration and to themselves as better professionals.”
