The intervention, carried out by Customs agents, Canarian Police and Agüimes Local Police, resulted in the seizure of more than 15.000 counterfeit items and batches of expired masks.
The investigation began following the detection, by customs officials, of irregularities in shipments arriving from China and which were destined for a resident of the island of Gran Canaria.
After the first suspicions, a surveillance and monitoring device was initiated through which said irregularities were confirmed, so an operation to seize the counterfeit merchandise was coordinated with the Canarian Police Corps and the Agüimes Local Police.
The operation consisted of the registration of the establishment where said merchandise was sold, located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and in two warehouses in Agüimes, where the material was kept. The seized merchandise included more than 15.000 counterfeit luxury brand items and various batches of expired masks, totaling 5 million euros.
