The judicial authorities are investigating the account movements of a company from Las Palmas that placed an invoice to a Madrid company for the renovation of a hotel chain based in San Agustín, in the south of Gran Canaria, without accounting for a value of more than 96.000 euros. The invoice was issued with a charge to the renovation expenses of a complex and whoever was supposed to pay it refused to do so because they did not recognize that service.
Subsequently, the invoice was remade with another concept from another company to the same company in Madrid and its payment was made. These invoice changes and the motivations for payment are what the Police are investigating, according to investigation sources consulted by Maspalomas24H this weekend. Legal sources consulted indicated that perhaps the idea was to camouflage the payment "and no objections were expected in Madrid and that the non-existence of such services would be verified." The hotel owner has asked that his name not appear in this chronicle, interpreting that it has nothing to do with the case except that one of its establishments was used in a crude manner.
The trigger for the plot was a complaint about another case, filed by Ángel Luis Pérez, who until January was Sports Director of the Cabildo de Tenerife. The former politician, also from the PSOE, reported for fraud a person who, in theory, had used his credit cards and another from El Corte Inglés without his consent. The proceedings were also carried out by the Court of Instruction number four of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
During his visit to the courts, the defendant in the card case uncovered the alleged Canarian corruption plot with audios, videos and photographs of the deals that seemed to be sealed in a Madrid hostess club. The case began with the arrest of Antonio Navarro Tacoronte. His role is the one who gives the plot its name, mediator, and he is a key figure for it to come to light. As revealed by La Provincia, Antonio Navarro was part of the alleged businesses and served as an intermediary between the businessmen and the ringleaders of the plot. His testimony is supported by dozens of minutes of audio recordings.
