The Commonwealth of the Southeast and the Department of Employment and Local Development of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria have given a boost to the employment plan that will allow the removal of deteriorated greenhouses from the coast of the region.
The disappearance of several agricultural cooperatives in recent years has led to the consequent abandonment of many greenhouses that have deteriorated over time and cause a negative visual impact, especially for those who arrive to the island by plane.
In this sense, this employment plan will contribute, on the one hand, “to creating employment in the region” and, on the other, to mitigating that visual impact, “that look that tourists and anyone who arrives in Gran Canaria by plane have. ", assured the president of the Commonwealth and mayor of Ingenio, Ana Hernández, after the technical meeting held with the mayors of Agüimes and Santa Lucía, Óscar Hernández and Francisco García, and the Minister of Employment and Local Development of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Juan Diaz.
It is “a very interesting, beautiful and necessary project in this region,” in which we must “move forward to be able to have it up and running soon,” said the president. The counselor, for his part, explained that this plan will have a budget of 1.800.000 euros "to begin carrying out the cleaning and beautification tasks of this area."
The selection of personnel will be carried out within the framework of the agreement between the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the Canarian Employment Service for the hiring of personnel for nine months. Specifically, the criterion of favoring unemployed people with difficulties in social and labor insertion will be followed.
