The driver was rescued and immediately transferred to the Gran Canaria Island Hospital.
A driver had to be rescued from a canal in the municipality of Agüimes after crashing his truck. The event took place at dawn, around 1:30 a.m., in the vicinity of the Arinaga Industrial Estate, specifically on Canal Izquierda street.
The Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert reporting that a truck had fallen into a water channel in the Arinaga Industrial Estate with a person inside and I was losing fuel.
After being notified of the accident, members of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and the Firefighters Consortium arrived at the scene, where they had to carry out rescue work to remove the driver from the canal. The 44-year-old driver was treated on site by an SUC ambulance, where health workers observed that he had moderate trauma to his back.
After the assessment, the ambulance transported the injured person to the Insular Hospital of Gran Canaria. Members of the Civil Guard and Local Police carried out the corresponding procedures after the rescue work.
