Drag Équinox and Drag Ávalon accompany the winner in his reign as first and second finalist respectively
As a novelty, the public crowned the 'People's Drag' after an express competition starring three attendees who, brave, dared to show off platforms and audacity on stage
The municipality of Mogán celebrated its Drag Gala this Friday in a market square in the town of Arguineguín until the flag. Spectacle, humor, transgression, freedom and a lot of platform came together on the Indian stage, with Drag Ármek proclaiming himself the winner of the night with the fantasy 'Shall we play?', his own design and that of Aran Perdomo sponsored by Placas Lantigua, Autos Basso and Kanerótika.
Ármek conquered the audience and jury with an uninhibited and sensual performance in which he appears transformed into a very playful Buddy from Toy Story. He accompanies him on the Drag Équinox throne as first finalist with 'Don't grow, it's a trap', designed by Aran Perdomo and Néstor Santana, and sponsored by Mow Hotels. The court is completed by Drag Ávalon, second finalist, with 'My fantasy of the world', designed by Dani Viera and Osvaldo Cabrera representing the Center for Art, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote, Department of Celebrations of the Arrecife City Council, Dental Claramunt, Silenciosos Modesto, CC Biosfera and Istanbul Shishas. The mayor of Mogán, Onalia Bueno, the Councilor for Celebrations, Víctor Gutiérrez, the Councilor for Culture, Consuelo Díaz, and the Councilor for Social Policy, Tania Alonso, were in charge of presenting the sashes and prizes to the winners.
The Dance Classroom of the Mogán Artistic Schools opened the event at 21:00 p.m. with a great staging according to this year's allegory, 'India'. The presenter of the evening, the collaborator and television host Amor Romeira, showed off her charisma, quickly establishing a connection with the public by making manifest her passion for carnival and especially for the drag world, where she debuted at a very young age as ' Baby Drag', then even performing at the Mogan festivals.
The first ovation of the night went to the neighbor and user of the Mogán Occupational Center Chano González. Just a few weeks ago he was proclaimed winner in the individual category of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival Integration Gala and, of course, he could not miss the event with the public in his native municipality. Thus, he presented 'Arde', a fantasy designed by neighbor Pepito Hernández, which earned him the 'Drag Sympathy' award.

Directed by Nauzet Navarro, Drag Leumen, Drag, Ávalon, Drag Kálik, Drag Némesis, Drag Équinox and Drag Ármek competed for the throne at the gala. All of them were evaluated by the jury formed by Drag Chacha, professional artist from Chueca and resident at Discoteca Escape; Sofía Gómez, director of the Bull Dorado Beach & Spa hotel; Minerva Suárez, professional fashion photographer at Maspa-foto; Davinia López, lawyer and former representative of the Gran Canaria Music Circuit; and Begoña Pérez, dressmaker and designer.
However, this edition of the 2023 Costa Mogán Carnival Drag Gala has had another jury: the public. The attendees were in charge of applauding three people who ventured to put themselves in the hands of professionals who turned them into drag queens in record time. They did not lack detail. Platforms, characterization and even the name of the fantasy. But, above all, daring to go out on stage for the title of 'Drag del Pueblo Costa Mogán'. Finally, it was Ceila Mariano Trujillo, a native resident of Arguineguín, who achieved it due to popular clamor, taking home the band and a ham as a prize, which was presented to her by the mayor and the Councilor for Celebrations.
On this night, one of the most anticipated by neighbors, those present were also able to enjoy the rhythm of Soraya Arnelas, who performed her latest single called 'La Cita', 'La noche es para mí' and the remix of 'Mi mundo sin ti' that he recently launched with Sofía Cristom DJ, also present. The Gran Canarian Tutto Durán also made the audience dance with 'Esta Canción' and 'Santa de mi devotion', and Amor Romeira did not leave without singing her hit 'Ubikaina' before the jury's verdict.
The gala concluded with the performance of Drag Ármek, Drag Queen of the Costa Mogán Carnival 2023, and then the party continued in the square with the mogollón with Grupo Arena and Sofía Cristo.
