The new agents achieved the best qualifications among the 700 people who submitted a request to participate in the public call
The last promotion of local police officers in the municipality was in 2019, with four officers joining. Until then, the workforce had last increased in 2002
Since this Saturday, March 25, the Mogán Local Police has added fourteen agents. All of them, eleven men and three women, have taken office in an institutional event held at the El Mocán Cultural Center and chaired by the mayor of Mogán, Onalia Bueno, and the head of the Corps, Jorge Alemán.
Local government, agents from the Local Police of Mogán and other municipalities, the Civil Guard, neighbors, family and friends witnessed the inauguration of the fourteen agents, who to get here have passed with the best score, among the 700 people presented, the four physical tests, a psychotechnical test and the theoretical and practical examination of topics related to the Security Forces and Corps.
The mayor has pointed out that today "is a special day" for the municipality, highlighting the incorporation of the three women, with six now making up the staff. She explained that since 2015 the Government group has opened opposition processes through which 18 new members have joined. Specifically 4 in 2019 and now another 14. Until then, 17 years had passed since the last call, through which 11 agents entered the Corps.
“It was very necessary to increase the workforce and it is another objective that we have met, but this does not stop here,” he said, ensuring that “if citizens trust us again, starting in June a procedure will be opened for four new positions, plus those that remain vacant. Therefore, this year we hope to incorporate at least four other agents.”
The councilor has indicated that the Mogán Local Police is currently one of the best equipped in resources, congratulating the first deputy mayor and councilor for Citizen Security, Mencey Navarro, for this. “We found a local Police force that we had to revalue as a whole and today we feel very proud of the staff we have,” she stated.
Bueno has extended his congratulations to the new agents, to whom he requests "loyalty to the institution, service to the municipality and closeness to the citizens, since in an emergency situation their first contact is with the Local Police." He has also noted that we are facing a generational change in the Corps. “The youngest is 21 years old and the oldest is 45,” he said, indicating that 13 of these come from various points in Gran Canaria and one from La Palma.

The first mayor took the opportunity to congratulate the families of the agents for being unconditional support during the period that they have been in opposition. The least, a minimum of four years.
The head of the Mogán Local Police, Jorge Alemán, also participated in the event, who stated that the incorporation of these 14 officials represents “a quantitative and qualitative leap in the improvement of the Corps' personnel.” Alemán has pointed out that all of them will be required to have “responsibility, a spirit of service and commitment to public service, loyalty, work and, above all, continuous training. Because the opposition has not ended today, it really begins now with the inauguration.”
The Mogán Local Police currently has 41 agents, who will be joined by the 14 who have taken office today. But first, they must go until June 16 to the Training facilities of the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands in Añaza, Tenerife. They will then join the Local Police service as trainee officers for 1.200 hours.
The event was attended by the aforementioned authorities, the councilor for Social Policy, Tania Alonso, the councilor for Heritage, Consuelo Díaz, the councilor for the Treasury, Ernesto Hernández, the councilor for Celebrations, Víctor Gutiérrez, and the spokesperson for the PP , councilor Maicol Santana. Likewise, the mayor of La Aldea de San Nicolás, Tomás Pérez, and the chief captain of the Neighborhood Company of the Civil Guard, Armando Fernández, attended.
