Civil Protection of San Bartolomé de Tirajana presented today, with the presence of Mayor Conchi Narváez, the new state-of-the-art Rescue and Aquatic Rescue vessel designed exclusively for action on our coasts.
This boat is 5,50 meters long, with a 70 HP engine that allows any water rescue and rescue to be carried out in an effective time and is equipped with the individual material and technical equipment to carry out water rescues.
Along with the mayor were the Councilor for Civil Protection, Orlando Cabrera, and the head of the municipal volunteer detachment, Juan Andrés Coruña.
Narváez highlighted the transcendent role that the Civil Protection of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has, given its participation in all types of mass events, supporting the security forces and health emergencies, such as the carnival, Gay Pride, the festivities. popular and other events.
“Now, with this important acquisition of the modern vessel, the 32 kilometers of coastline that the municipality has will also be better protected. It is a guarantee for residents and visitors who interact in aquatic spaces,” added the first mayor.
New uniforms, multifunctional classroom and better training
Throughout the current legislature, Civil Protection has been expanding and improving its material, technical and human resources. Thus, they have just recently launched the uniform intended for volunteering, "which stands out for being innovative in its design, meeting R&D standards and the latest technology in its functionality, in addition to considering the characteristics proposed by the Government of the Canary Islands", said Councilor Cabrera.
On the other hand, in recent years the City Council has created a multifunctional classroom, intended for the training of Civil Protection Volunteers.
“A unit that can automatically become a crisis cabinet room, the moment an incident occurs in our municipality in which it is necessary to activate the PEMU and/or connect and coordinate with other public entities, such as other town councils, Island Council, Government of the Canary Islands, etc.,” said the Coruña official.
The training and recycling of the members that make up this group is permanent. A totally new formation in its design, since it is oriented towards the functions carried out by the group in its main objective: The protection of our municipality, our neighbors, visitors and tourists.
It is an outsourced, regulated and comprehensive training, which marks a before and after in the knowledge of emergency components and will make volunteering more effective, while taking into account the Occupational Risk Prevention regulations.
