The central Unión Sindical Obrera (USO) has won the elections in one of the hotels owned by Blackstone in the south of Gran Canaria. USO has swept the first elections in which it ran. USO is a German-style union: when there is a strike it pays the workers the salary from its resistance fund and, for this reason, it enjoys great prestige in the Social Judiciary since, to go on strike, USO has first exhausted multiple avenues with companies. Thus, he was the one who mobilized workers from Seguridad Integral Canaria or Kalise in Gran Canaria.
It is the first time that USO enters the tourist field in years and it does not do so by chance in a hotel owned by an investment fund although managed by a subsidiary of Lopesan, which provides the Ábora brand to the Continental hotel, that is, what was previously IFA. He has obtained 8 of the 9 delegates that were elected. Blackstone is the largest owner of hotels in the family tourism segment in the south of Gran Canaria and the Padrón family's Holiday World.
On the other hand, Blackstone admitted at Easter that it imposed rescue restrictions on its 70.000 billion BREIT real estate investment fund for the month of March. Blackstone has implemented a rule since November last year that limits BREIT's bailout claims if it exceeds 5% of net assets.
