The cuts and restrictions will occur between 06:00 and 14:00 on Saturday, April 22, on the occasion of the Anfi Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria triathlon event. The GC-500 highway will be closed to vehicle traffic between the small square of the La Verga ravine – Anfi del Mar area, kilometer point 30+700 – and the Taurito ravine, kilometer point 42+800.
The Mogán City Council provides maps indicating access to the affected locations along with traffic restrictions for Saturday, April 22. The access and traffic restrictions that will affect part of the coastal area of the municipality are detailed below.
Vehicle access to Anfi del Mar and Los Caideros It will be closed as it is the transition area for the test using bicycles. Access controlled by the agents in charge of traffic regulation will only be allowed in a restricted manner. For safety reasons, pedestrians must move through the marked area and a temporary stop will also be installed for public passenger transport.
En Balito access to the complex Marina Elite Resort It will be closed from 06:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m., except for exceptions of urgency and imperative need. Access and exit until 7:30 a.m. of workers and transfers to the airport will be carried out under the supervision of the Local Police.
Access to the area Water The Bitch –in Puerto Rico– traffic will be restricted. Vehicles may only be used for justified reasons, pick-up and drop-off of clients by public transport services, always taking into account on the part of the drivers that access to this area through the GC- roundabout 500 confluence with Juan Díaz Rodríguez street. This road may only be crossed when authorized by the Local Police officers who are on traffic regulation duty at this point.
In the lower area of Puerto Rico, for which you have to cross the GC-500, access will be restricted. It can only be done with the vehicle in those cases that are strictly necessary and essential, following the instructions of the agents who are regulating traffic. Access and exit until 8:00 a.m. of workers and transfers to the airport will be carried out under the supervision of the Local Police.
It is recommended, as far as possible, to park in the upper part of Puerto Rico (Tomás Roca Bosch Street and surrounding areas). To cross to the lower part, you must use the pedestrian underpass that is in the area, so that you can avoid traveling at the same level as the place where the sports event takes place.
Access to the area Amadores It will be done through the interior of Puerto Rico from GC-1, using Avenida de la Cornisa to Timanfaya Street, Tenerife Street and San Borondón Street, going down Minister Anna Lindh Street to the existing parking area. To leave, you will have to travel along Montaña Clara Street to Cornisa Avenue and join the GC-1 in Puerto Rico.
A Tauro, El Platero and Playa del Cura It can only be accessed in case of urgency or unforeseen need, so residents of the area must plan in advance according to the road closure. Access and exit until 7:30 a.m. of workers and transfers to the airport will be carried out under the supervision of the Local Police. The provisional stops for public passenger transport (taxis and buses) will be located in the Tauro square.
Access and exit taurito on the GC-500 highway will be closed and the GC-1 must be used as an alternative route. Therefore, to go to the Mogán area you will have to go to exit 62 towards Las Palmas and make a U-turn to Mogán. Access to the lower area of Taurito can be done normally.
Vehicle access to the beaches of Los Frailes, Medio Almud and Tiritaña will be closed between 06:00 and 14:00.
The Mogán City Council asks citizens to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The measures adopted are those necessary for the Anfi Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria to be held within the security parameters that an event of these characteristics requires for its correct development in the municipality.
