The Maspalomas pond like the blue of the sea

In the last few hours, a tweet criticizing a publication shared by the official Maspalomas Tourism page has sparked controversy among some users.

Just at the beginning of the electoral month, the council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana receives its first “criticism.” Specifically, the Department of Tourism. The reason is a publication shared on the official Maspalomas Tourism Facebook page, where an image of the Maspalomas Charca published by an external tourist page with photos of the island was shared. So far so good, the problem came when a Twitter user noticed a detail in the photo.

Photographer and climate journalist Eduardo Robaina shared the image on his Twitter profile pointing out that, due to the angle and height of the photo, it could only have been taken with a drone, something prohibited in many areas of Gran Canaria, an island with more restrictions regarding the flight of this type of device. La Charca de Maspalomas is an area especially sensitive to this type of activities because it is a Special Natural Reserve where many birds live and transit, as stated by the user who shared the publication on Twitter.

In the responses to the tweet you can find some users showing their disbelief and highlighting in an ironic tone that “There are more drones than birds flying over the reserve”. For its part, in the original publication of the Maspalomas Tourism Facebook page There is no reference to the flight of drones in the comments, but some users have criticized the state of the pond with comments such as: “the stinking green water is not missing” or “absolute abandonment.”
