The south of Gran Canaria faces a new electoral stage where two things are decided: either Concepción Narváez (PSOE) or Marco Aurelio Pérez (AVPP) follows. The rest, according to the surveys, are looking to be a hinge. Unless there is a local pact between PSOE and PP, something that the little ones try to blow up because they would stop eating. There are surveys that place AV-PP as a councilor with the absolute majority.
The tourism business in Gran Canaria has always meant that what is decided in Tirajana affects the entire island, given that Tunte is the economic capital of the Canary Islands. In the last legislatures, Francisco Araña del Toro, commander of the AV-PP believers, died in the figure of his heir Marco Aurelio Pérez. AV is independent but maintains agreements such as Araña once had with CCN or Rafael Pedrero's IGC.

Having said the above from the ICAN era, the part that went to Nueva Canarias remains, practically the entire party. ICAN is Canarian Coalition and those acronyms have formally had mayors such as Juan José Santana Quintana or María del Pino Torres. These last two support Nueva Canarias, a party that has some governing power with a minority of councilors since the vote has been divided between CC and NC. If CC and NC went to local elections together, they would leave it very difficult for PSOE and AV.
In the PSOE, without being Narváez, Marcial Franco has been mayor, who has become a writer and completely disconnected from politics. Franco Vega (El Tablero, Gran Canaria, 1953) is already a retired teacher and has written some books after that phase in 1991 when he dedicated himself body and soul to municipal management until the end of the year 2000 to dedicate himself to private activity. . In the literary field he is the author of the greguerías book Pizcos and the costumbrista novel Las Casas, in which the use of Canarian speech stands out, especially from the south of Gran Canaria. Habana, malecón y vida is his second novel, which can be purchased on Google Books or Amazon.
