On May 12, Netflix broadcast the film that was filmed in Fataga and El Berriel, also in Meloneras in March 2022, although in Las Palmas they only give importance to a route on Perojo Street which, being as it is, makes it difficult to simulate Havana. As always, Las Palmas is chosen because it seems to be in the third world and the south of the island for its landscapes and modernity.
The filming of the series in Gran Canaria responded to the suggestion of its producer, Simon Emmanuel, who had previously visited Gran Canaria to film part of the feature film 'Fast & Furious 6'. For nine days the production company filmed in emblematic points of the island such as Fataga, El Berriel, Maspalomas, Roque Nublo, Cuevas Blancas, Tamadaba and Agaete, locations “that have responded to the demands of the series,” stated the president, a Gran Canarian, Antonio Morales, who trusted that this important international production company will continue to have Gran Canaria to film its productions.
Jennifer Lopez's long-awaited film is directed by Niki Caro and one of her co-stars is Joseph Fiennes. While in the south everything was natural, in Las Palmas Netflix built a set in the streets with a tropical air reminiscent of Havana, where part of the story is supposed to take place. The Mother will be made in partnership with different production companies, including the Tenerife-based Sur Film. It co-stars Gael García Bernal, Joseph Fiennes, Paul Raci and more. It is the first film in the multi-year partnership between Netflix and Lopez's production company, Nuyorican Films.
President Morales in 2022 was accompanied by the manager of the service production company Sur Film, Juan Cano, who introduced them to the members of the production team. The filming of this series joined those of another Scandinavian television series and another Finnish-German co-production series.
