The management of the migration crisis that the archipelago has experienced has been the trigger for the exchange of accusations
“He’s the racist ,” said Onalia Bueno, mayor of Mogán and candidate for Juntos por Mogán, referring to the President of the Canary Islands Government, Ángel Víctor Torres. The reason was a statement made by the president and PSOE candidate during an electoral debate held on May 12, right at the start of the campaign.
In that debate, Ángel Víctor accused the mayor of Mogán of chartering buses full of undocumented immigrants who had arrived at the Arguineguín dock to take them to Las Palmas and drop them off in front of the Government Delegation building in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In response to these accusations, Onalia Bueno expressed her outrage, asking how dare Ángel Víctor and his party call her a racist and asserting that "he's the racist one."
Onalia Bueno has also taken the opportunity to return to the immigration crisis experienced during the last legislature in the middle of the campaign to attack the PSOE at the national level and criticize its management.
