The local elections this weekend already mark a trend regarding who will be in charge of municipal management between 2023 and 2027. And at this point there is something that draws attention: the divorce between regulated tourism and the CC candidate for Mayor of Tirajana on account of the residents' accommodation. Marichal has said in 'El Espejo Canario' that he finds it inexplicable that completed developments such as those in Lomo de Maspalomas, Meloneras 2A or Siam Park are not received by the City Council, in some cases because the matter is being prosecuted and in others because of "an interest "political" by Marco Aurelio Pérez so that "the same thing with Lopesan as with Siam Park" would not be done.
To begin with, the final stretch of the campaign takes place without a formal meeting between the hotel management of Las Palmas and the CC candidate, although businessmen have attended some of his events. But, formally, there has been no meeting. What there was was a commitment before the elections on the defense that CC would make to harmonize the rule that restricts the presence of neighbors in tourist apartments.
On the other hand, there is a question that has entrepreneurs with CC worried. This is the Siam Park Tenerife project in El Veril. In the south of Gran Canaria, the project is not wanted by environmentalists and businessmen who ask to concentrate the leisure offer more integrated into the business. The Loro Parque project would be built with hotel accommodation and a shopping center, which has generated discomfort among businessmen in that same area and residents who do not understand how more licenses can be given for shopping centers, when the existing ones are in total ruin and exceed the meters allowed.
